I have been working at Groupon full-time for more than a year

Pros

- casual
- best name & resources in the daily deal space
- working hard to improve management from the top-down

Cons

- spotty, sometimes unqualified direct management
- very little career development & training
- month-to-month quota
- lack of transparency in quota setting & account distribution

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unfortunately, it seems stock needs to be going in the right direction before hard effort is put into improving the specified problems.

    I have been working at Groupon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Stocked refrigerators. Ability to waste time online all day.

    Cons

    Quotas are extremely high. Currently, they expect 20% month over month growth in a dying industry where most businesses don't want to be ripped off by Groupon or any of its competitors. Constantly changed structures. High turnover to the point that it is distracting. Personally, I have had 3 bosses in 8 months. Every person on the sales team is waiting for another job offer. For many sales people, they never want to do sales again after this experience. Most dead end job you can possibly embark on. If you think talking about mani/pedis and restaurants all day does not get old, you've got another thing coming to you. Last and probably the most important part, they let their own stock failures affect the expectations of workers. In the last quarter, they paid out too much in commission in Oct. due to a botched top merchant campaign. To make up for this, they set up Nov. and Dec. to rip off the sales employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop the "burn and churn" plan for employees. You've already burned through far too many sales people to keep this up. You've definitely lost your top sales people to better employers but you might want to change in time to not lose your fairly skilled employees.

    Pros

    nothing good to say about it. Even when there are team parties, there is no budget so you have to pay for your portion of anything you eat.

    Cons

    This is the most unprofessional, uneasy, unethical, disorganized, childish, unstable, secretive, unproductive company ever.

    Stop playing favorites -- its only hurting the business even more than it already is
