    Former Contractor - Anonymous Contractor

I worked at Guardian News & Media as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Terrific new offices make it a pleasure to come to work, plenty of natural light and a strong team spirit. Chance to work on experimental stuff on regular hack-days and a good learning environment as well.

    Cons

Software Engineers not as involved with product design or priorities as they could be and this often compromises the end results.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give strong developers a wider product remit and voice within the department.

Current Employee - Business Manager in London, England (UK)

I have been working at Guardian News & Media full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

working for one of the worlds biggest media brands
digital innovation is at the forefront of their strategy - unlike the majority of other national newspapers
great bonus structure for advertising sales people
    Good training

    Cons

Sometimes can over-complicate things with bureaucracy
Some senior managers are not fast moving enough

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We need to adopt change and not get stuck in the past like so many companies. Just because doing something is a risk does not make it the wrong choice, it just makes it tougher to accomplish something brilliant and unique!

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
