I have been working at Guess?

Pros

The people and the clients I meet while working in such a great location make the job so enjoyable and has kept me wanting to continue to work for the company for over a year.

Cons

The hours are long and sometimes there are some obstacles when it comes to hiring but nothing I can't handle.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to be positive and confident. It will get you to a better place in the field.

    Pros

    Bonuses for making goals
    Marciano boutique
    Location on Michigan Avenue
    Can be fun at times
    40-50% discount on certain items
    Most employees are good to work with
    Seems to be getting better

    Cons

    Acceptable pay
    "Zoning" and using walkie-talkies
    Sometimes unreasonably high sales goals
    Closing sucks (sometimes there until 11...other larger stores finish way before)
    Open until 9 (most stores open until 8)
    Sometimes understaffed
    Management will make you work more hours than you want
    Some unfair treatment by management
    Keeping the sale area organized is a nightmare
    Michigan Avenue sucks on holidays
    Doing stock checks is highly inefficient

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't work your employees like slaves. Crack down on violations and reward/encourage better behavior. More training. Less favoritism. Listen to what employees are experiencing. Ask for a larger budget from corporate; first day on the job everyone said how the store is in desperate need of a remodel, and yet hours are cut and there's a shortage of hands some nights when closing.

    I worked at Guess?

    Pros

    The people that you encounter, and the people you work with make it a great place to be. Those are the most important factors, I feel.

    Cons

    It can be extremely busy, so if you're lazy - you should not work here. There are sales, and numerous things that draw the consumer in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be more proactive and interactive with the employees. Overall I think that they do a great job. I couldn't complain. I still love the ones I worked with.
