I have been working at Guy Carpenter full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

GC is a great place to work with many experienced and knowledgable people. There are many different areas within the company to ove through and grow.

Cons

Salary is not competitive with the current rates currently out there. Communication has been lacking but it has been addressed and the company is trying to work on that.

I have been working at Guy Carpenter

    Pros

Stable results, although lower profit margins than competitors
Flexibility to work remotely or set flex hours
Decent benefits, although a bit on the pricey side
One of the last companies around with both a 401K and Pension Plan

    Cons

    Limited career paths
Constant turnover at senior management (C-suite) positions
Very political, too many competing interests, and no backbone from senior management to solve
Struggle to create perception of value for services, give everything away for free

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring brokers for senior management positions who view GC as a stepping stone on the way up the MMC ladder. Institute better expense controls to improve margins, and establish PL's by account to hold account teams responsible for results.
