I have been working at Gymboree part-time (more than an year)

Pros

The people are all nice, Its fun if you like working with children, My manager was very flexible with hours and days you needed off

Cons

Schedules are put out late and can change a lot, sometimes you only work like 5 hours a week because of too many employees, the shipments are large and hard to keep organized in the tiny back room and you are sometimes expected to put out 40 boxes of clothes in one day, the lp manager and regional manager don't seem to trust their staff, a lot of shoplifters come in

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire sales leads from people that work in the store instead of hiring someone that has less experience and does not know what they are doing.

I have been working at Gymboree full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Company overall has some nice people. HR tries to be competitve with benefits. The office space is nice and in a central location.

    Cons

The company does not support working mothers. The pay is way below market rate. The morale isn't great. There is no incentive or motivation because growth is limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful of who you hire. Managers are abusing their power and driving people away. Give training to the new hires so they don't run away too.

I worked at Gymboree as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

-the free espresso machine and soda fountain
    -friendly, smart individuals
-great location, easily accessible by public transportation

    Cons

-Bain Capital owned (yes, a bit biased)
-even in though our team was able to save the company x% in costs, guess who gets the triple to million dollar bonuses? The bankers.
-no training, hence why I felt like a chicken with its head cut off
-technology so old that would make FB and Google laugh
-not a CO2 friendly company, churns out paper out from the printing machines like there's no tomorrow just to be thrown away (recycled) hours later.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-offer training; I had no idea that I needed to clock in and out!
-orientation should be granted to all new employees
