Pros

Fantastic scheduling system, you can drop a shift through the computer and anyone qualified may pick it up within minutes.
Great starting pay rate and discount on store brand items, saves tons of money on groceries.
You get a 25 cent raise every 6 months and you can begin advancing after 1 year, also very easy to transfer stores or departments.
They offer benefits such as mobile phone discounts and scholarships.
There are may fun employee appreciation events and culture events where you may dress up and/or get free food.

Cons

VERY repetitive work, you handle hundreds of customers in one shift.
You will have to work crappy times like weekends, till 1am, etc. because it is retail.
Managers are generally nice, but corporate transfers them around to different stores every few years, so you can't really build a relationship.
Once you quit or fired, there's a 99% chance you will never ever be rehired.

Advice to Management

Keep it up, people love that Texas Showdown and those yellow coupons!
I love that each store has produce and specialty products tailored to the people living in the immediate vicinity! Brilliant.

    Pros

Once you get full-time( which seems to be getting harder) your guaranteed 37.5 hours/week. Then you can tap into the benefits, which are mainly for full-time "partners" only.

    Cons

Micro-Managment is out of control. Store hierarchy: Unit Director, Store director (2 or more) MIC, (2 or more) Grocery Manager (2 or more). Then you have Lead postions, Stock controller, basically bogus positions just put into place to blame someone else. It is almost impossible to get a straight answer from any manager, because there are some many other manger they need to "speak" to. Just come to work and shut up! seems like the new motto. No one wants to here about what will be more efficent or easier. As long as numbers are met everything is fine. WORK HARDER NOT SMARTER

    Advice to Management

Get back to smaller managment team. More training/requirments for new managment positions. Stop putting people who know nothing about the job requirments in positons of responsiblilty!
