Pros

Great people in a high-paced environment. With the seasonality of the business, it's very fast-paced and high-stress but everyone works together to get it done and get it done on time.

Cons

Depending on the dept there's not always a lot of room for growth. Often not a defined career path.

Advice to Management

Provide departments with the head count needed to get the job done right without losing the work/life balance.

    Pros

Traditional culture is about really caring about clients on a personal level, not just getting their taxes done. They throw in a lot of things for free. It feels good to get to truly help people.

    Cons

Middle management is more concerned with not being fired than about running the business. They drop like flies. Union style culture where the elderly experienced tax pros will go as far as to hide client information on clients they don't even have time to complete on time to prevent other tax pros from completing them. Experienced tax pros at war with corporate culture. Health insurance turned out to be non-existant, waste of money.

    Advice to Management

Setup a culture that grows from within. And if you want tax pros to support your other products, then pay them to do that.

  2. Great place to get taxes prepared. Management is difficult to work with.

    Pros

Great training, fair compensation, company backs the product, promotes teamwork, good resources, company quickly adapts to change and usually communication within company is good.

    Cons

Stores often overstaffed, so not enough hours, compensation system creates an aggressive competitions among associate, all stores no matter the demographics focuses policies for early season filers.

    Advice to Management

Please consider creating more stability within the offices and districts. The constant, annual changes to district management destroys team atmosphere. Allow the district managers to create and keep a team in place instead of moving offices to different districts. In five years I had 2 district managers and composition of the district was different every year.
