I have been working at H&R Block part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great teamwork between tax preparers and client service representatives. Opportunities for advancement at employee's decision. Free tax return for employees; tax preparation discounts for employee's friends and family.

    Cons

Seasonal position--majority of labor released on or around April 15th of each year. Employees' hours are inflexible during peak periods (late Jan. - mid Feb. and early-mid Apr.); hours cut drastically between mid Feb. and early Apr. Tax preparers are required to meet office and individual return/revenue goals for season or risk termination of employment/pay reduction for following season.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better indoor and online marketing campaigns to attract new and former clients, especially in areas of the country where inclement weather (e.g. freezing temps, snow/ice) significantly reduces opportunities to market business. Offer more attractive incentives to employees (e.g. pay increase, gift cards, etc.) who run marketing campaigns for individual office and work scheduled shift on same day or on employee's day off at management's request.

I have been working at H&R Block part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The best reason to work with the company is the talent it attracts-- retired people with years in experience and hard working American needing extra income to supplement their full time jobs

    Cons

The challenges is the low hourly pay and the commission system too hard to understand why most people do not get any.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the profit sharing system for first year with the company and for people with more years to be at least 25 percent of what they generate in revenue for the company
