Pros

Its culture is undergoing a transformation and looks promising. There are some initiative towards having a transperant management and honnest approach towards caring employee career. For example, 360 degree feedback, 2 year job rotation, SSD, etc. Its strategies to business, though it follows 'me too' services like every other Indian IT compnanies, there are few areas where it is trying a differentiating strategies., e.g. Axon, Boeing delas, etc. which I believe will pay off.

Cons

Unfortunately HCL inherits a long history of authoritarian culture in Sr and middle manangement, which is very difficult and time consuming exercise to break. Hence the transformation is slow and may take several years before it can be fully functional at all lelvel.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Believe in the transformation undertaken, embrace it with full heart.. wining employee's commitment just needs going that extra mile of showing caring.. it pays of all the remaining 100% BAU activities you do right most of the time, otherwise, they all go unnoticed.

    Pros

    Stable job and travel opportunities

    Cons

VERY poor management at all levels. VERY difficult to get paid as a contractor. No phone numbers or people to call with HR issues, only email. Emails are rarely answered. Overall the company is very poorly managed. Answers from India on important issues do not materialize without constant nagging. Managers do not seem to have the authority or influence they would have you believe and rarely assist employees with HR or pay issues. Frequently told India and its people have a 'Can Do' attitude, but it appears to be more of a 'Can't Do' environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend some time learning Western management techniques and take more of an interest in subordinate HR and pay issues.

    Pros

Pretty knowledgeable about work ethics, good career growth, had a good exposure to different assignments and responsibilities, good team management.

    Cons

Applying for leave was a problem, too much of work pressure, not sufficient VOIPs due to which had to wait for hours and search for places all across the building to make the call

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication means to communicate with the clients, better people in the management/hr department, very rude behavior from the management.
