I worked at HCR ManorCare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

First week you get to shAdow a employee for applied posistion yearly raises with a cap off ,competence review annually, accumulate sick time once you get on the floor, vactio. Time after a year, medical benefits, lots of overtime opportunity, skills are fully utilized

    Cons

90 day probational period, half the time suppllies are out, an food o. Occation is the only insentive unless you been there for a year, no compassion for employees in catatrophic hardship by no mean unless you got written documentation, dont let them beg you into work overtime unless your in dire need you wont get anymore appreciatation than you do working your regular shift. a shift differential on non regular shifts no double time or time in a half unless its a paid holiday. Mandatory Inservises online on your own time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You cant have scheduling staff beg employee prosistantly to cover other shift on off days or work doubles an not give incentives an a free meal that is poorly prepared is not a insentive its a basic need when you barely haVe time to eat in a high stressed
& demanding field most of the time nurses dont take a lunch due to the fact
Please consider needs on a personal level do some research employees have struggles that can run interference an unwilling to work with employees who have catastrophic life changing family matters is no way to show compassion in a field that is nothing but caring
allow FMLA to be less of a hassle an you may have programs that help but they do not give solutions they Merly ease the anxiety an stress you get from a days work. Keep up to date remember those who inform you of major life changes & give leverage they need there jobs too an give accurate info upon cutting quote un quote when you Discharge an employee back up with documentation dont assume the most cheerful is not having a hard tie personally or the employee with the nices car . You go through employees like because some staff have poor attitudes towards eachother its non sense.
