It's a nursing home, but it could be worse

I have been working at HCR ManorCare full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Upper and middle management are visible and don't hide in their offices all the time.

Cons

Staffing is a disaster and supplies are almost always in short supply. I'm sure that applies across the board, but still, I think this facility is special in that the reason these problems persist and/or get worse is because of the person in charge of both.

I worked at HCR ManorCare full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Wages were better than expected, and was offered full benefits after one month of employment. The facility is new and well-maintained.

    Cons

Consistently understaffed due to extremely high staff turnover rate. Staff quitting or being fired on an almost daily basis. Hostile work environment due to management leadership style.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on hiring experienced nurses. BSN degrees do not translate into quality nurses. Too many don't know the basics. Be more supportive of staff, and do not micromanage or belittle.
