I have been working at HCR ManorCare full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Team-oriented, high expectations. Emphasis on customer service. Treats staff with respect.

Cons

Poor benefit package for majority of employees. Must wait 1 year until vacation is earned.

Advice to Management

Switching from being a reactive employer to a proactive employer would result in attracting and keeping quality staff.

    Pros

    Flexibility in scheduling, some team members.

    Cons

    For the amount of work a CNA has to do, the pay is not fair at all. Starting at 8.35/hr, people working in other industries with lesser labor, get paid more. Not fair pay at all.

    Advice to Management

    The company is perhaps because of unfair pay compared to the amount of work they give.

    I worked at HCR ManorCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Can gain experience in the Long Term Care and Rehabilitation business. Country's largest provider.

    Cons

    The HR policies are bizarre. The "Regional" Directors do not understand your market because they are not from that region. You are not given the authority you need to run your own department or facility. "Toledo" makes all those decisions.

    Advice to Management

    I would say your motto is to care about the employees, but you don't show that care to the front line of management. Just because someone has been there a good time does not mean they do a good job. I was there over a year and never had a 30 day, 90, six month or 1 year review and did not receive the training I was supposed to.
