    Pros

    Benefits are very good, salaries are okay. Not much mentoring, but training is available. Average performers have limited opportunities for new assignments.

    Cons

    Honda believes in crossing the T's and dotting the I's. Good processes with checks and balances are part of manufacturing and administrative activities. If you want flexibility, Honda is probably not the place for you.

    Advice to Management

    Honda believes in associate involvement, but relatively few actively strive to implement improvements. The Honda Philosophy is well reasoned but most associates don't understand it well. Management needs to find a way to engage associates on an emotional level.

    Pros

    Lots of project opportunity - you have to go after it and show apptitude
    Easy to shine above your peers
    Great opportunity for advancement without a degree - but it takes a lot more to get a foot in the door
    Lots of opportunity for lateral moves to learn other areas/departments
    Program to teach problem solving - if you embrace it and really want to learn it
    Successful projects + advanced problem solving + knowledge of a lot of areas with in Honda = promotion (based on business need, of course)

    Cons

    HR is weak and ineffective
    High Attrition due to Morale and lack of development
    Very little flexability when compared to other companies
    Engineer pay is much lower than other companies
    Honda as a whole seems to have lost its innovative edge
    Inefficencies abound
    No Succession Planning

    Advice to Management

    A) Put focus back on innovation, associate development and Quality Circles. B) Invest in manufacturing process that allow our vehicles to be exciting again. C) Give people something to be excited about in thier jobs and morale will improve. D) Salaried jobs are not the same as hourly - acknowledge it in the form of flexability and it will provide incentive for hourly to apply for salaried openings. E) Find a better way to gather associate ideas for improvements.
