For the most part, it was good until a bus came in and you had to pry the store manager out of her office.

I worked at HMSHost full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Free meals and smoke breaks

    Cons

Senior employees are held to different (higher) standard than new young blood.

Middle management has no decision-making power other than on trivial issues. For this reason, the managers who stay are those who have no ambition and are there only to enforce the company's policies / regulations and write pink slips. When an ambitious manager realizes he has no "actual authority", he/she stays long enough to observe and learn enough to move on to a better company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat all employees with the dignity and respect that you would treat YOUR superiors. You spend so much time and energy tracking employees and stuffing their files to build a case for termination; - this translates into low morale amongst ALL employees.
