Pros

Some (some!) of the Senior Management take pride in their associates and have a personal interest in the growth of their teams. Many pockets of individuals who take pride in making a difference everyday.

Cons

No raises (as promised) for the last 3+ years, no work-life balance, IT teams are asked to work 50+ hours each and every week but have been instructed only to report 40 hours in the system. Too many great people have left the company.

Advice to Management

Replace the front door with a revolving door

    Pros

    Salaries were good, but most often people with higher salaries were let go to save the company money.

    Cons

    Little or no interaction with senior leadership outside of quarterly meetings.

    Advice to Management

    No real structure, training was scarce. The building was old and dumpy. Senior team was always looking for a scapegoat. Men ruled the roost.

    Pros

    Good pay and benefits. Most employees are great to work with and they have proactive ideas. Great location. Challenging work. Never boring. Growing industry.

    Cons

    Internal customers are not well-served by IT. Training is not adequate. Employees are frustrated because they cannot improve processes. They can only deal with recurring problems. External customers are frustrated because projects are delayed and employees cannot help them.

    Advice to Management

    Executives - If you want to understand the issues affecting revenue and customer dissatisfaction, try the following: 1. Attend some project meetings. 2. Sit with some employees while they tackle daily responsibilities. Try to use the software tools that are available. 3. Ask middle management how this environment is different from their previous experiences and why they were able to succeed there. Strategies are just wishlists if they cannot be implemented.
