I have been working at HSBC Holdings full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

I've been with the company for almost 5 years now, being here I have had so much opportunity to move around and expand my experience in different departments. The company has always recognized top performers and rewarded very well. The company is very flexible with time off, they have a great combination of work, balance, and life.

Cons

As in mostly every business, it's who you know to advance in here. My theory is you never know who is going to be your boss next so just be nice and respectful to everyone and you may have a chance to move up within the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to be on the same page, you have one department running things one way and another running it a different way.

Perhaps not the best place for an ambitious person to start out

I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good work - life balance and the culture wasn't excessively demanding (or at least no more so than you would expect at a 2nd tier investment bank). They were also good about getting you training when you asked for it, but you had to be the one actively seeking out opportunities for development.

    Cons

The organisation was very slow at adapting to change and not very innovative. It felt like a place you come to retire rather than to start your career. Also didn't spend too much time/resources in encouraging employees' personal and professional development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to development! Especially among junior employees.
