I worked at HSBC Holdings as a contractor for more than a year

Pros

-great compensation
-really nice work environment
-countless out of work events and groups for employees
-opportunity to make a big impact (if you're in the right team etc..)

Cons

-turnover/movement within teams is high
-frequent changes to orginazational structure, they can change the carpet as much as hey like but it's still the same show.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

get serious with innovation and create roles and teams around improving the way things are done. A lot of money is spent on 3rd party products/processes etc.. which could really be developed in-house (and then sold outside the bank for even more money)

I have been working at HSBC Holdings

    Pros

Historically a good company to work for that looked after it's employees and gave them the opportunity to progress.

    Cons

Is now the company that brings in short term contractors to pin the blame on because management are incompetent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get managers that can manage their staff, and not just beat them down until they quit.
