I have been working at HSBC Holdings

Pros

-High level of integrity/culture is to do the right thing
-People generally cooperative and good to work with
-Good benefits and opportunities to travel globally

Cons

-Poor project management discipline
-Poor BU strategy
-Terrible base pay but bonuses can compensate

Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Develop strong project management disciplines and methodologies in CoE not just lift and shift
- Run OneHSBC from a proposition and strategy viewpoint as well as process and IT
-Compensate people now to prevent competitors picking off talent as market picking back up
-Develop stronger local BU strategy functions

    Pros

    Professional atmosphere, compensation scale is decent, employees treated with respect. Have been at Credit Suisse for over 2 years and find the work enjoyable.

    Cons

    The work culture varies from group to group. Some teams have good systems and procedures in place with a predictable work load, while others tend to be a bit chaotic. Promotions, pay raises etc., are too dependent on the group that you are in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management team should be commended on the effort taken to solicit employee feedback. Effort should be taken to isolate and recognize individual contribution distinct from the overall team's performance. Promotion and internal mobility processes should have quicker turnaround cycles.

    I worked at HSBC Holdings

    Pros

    People are generally friendly and helpful. Organisation is willing to invest in people although it is a large and bureaucratic place.

    Cons

    Pay is often poor especially for people who raise up the ranks. Perks are however very good in terms of holidays and healthcare.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be more fair to staff who have given good years to the organisation and pay them what they deserve if they had joined a competitor.
