I worked at HSN

Pros

The benefits at HSN are very good. The company seems to truly care about its employees. The campus has a lot of nice amenities for employees (not free but available) like an in house restaurant, car detailing, DMV visits, oil changes, etc. HSN also pays competitive wages (at least in the IT sector). The company often promotes from within so advancement in the company is possible for hard workers, although it does take longer than I think it should.

Cons

Training of employees could be placed a bit higher on the priority list but overall the company is a very good place to work for.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to listen to the ideas of employees and keep it up with the good benefits.

I have been working at HSN

    Pros

The benefits are the best reasons for working at HSN are the benefits; medical, etc.

    Cons

HSN at the St Petersburg headquarters comprises of three parts: broadcast, senior management in their own building and the call center. I work at the call center and of all the call centers I have worked for, HSN's is the most mismanaged of the mall. Cronyism and nepotism is very rampant at the call center.

Team supervisory positions are awarded to people who do not have any experience in managing people and undergo practically no training in doing the same. Despite in-house company propaganda to the contrary, employees at the call center are treated very poorly and subjected to draconian demands. For example, if an employee took a break to go to the bathroom in between one's official breaks, this person will have already missed a key metric and this would be a ground for termination.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ms Grossman, please take closer look at how the call center is managed. For the most part, team supervisors and managers are not qualified to do their job.
