    Pros

Good HR Dept that is vibrant and potent. Good benefits.

    Cons

Little or no chance of growth. Politics and nepotism deeply ingrain in the departments. Ridiculous amount of money thrown to cover the incompetence of senior leaders while starving the dedicated employees of growth and advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase employee engagement and communication. Do regular rating of the competence of senior leaders.

Overworked and embarrassingly underpaid in a dysfunctional department.

I worked at HSN full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Nice campus and employee discount
Worked with a lot of great people and made a lot of friends

    Cons

My supervisor was a woman who would micromanage every little aspect of her team, until there was an issue or a problem - then it was all on you. A very poor leader who would bog her team down with distracting busy work, endless meetings, and other distractions from your already very busy days that would often keep you at your desk well into the evening hours.

There's a palpable sense of hostility that exists between departments at HSN. You get the sense that the only reason anybody cooperates with other teams is because they have too, but won't hesitate to throw other team members under the bus as soon as they can.

They expect you to be on your Blackberry 24/7/365, or else.

Very little chance of advancement unless you're a part of the clique or of a certain lifestyle persuasion. Some inexperienced VP's & directors here were hired only because of who on the 5th Floor of the Tower they know, while offering little expertise to the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand the strengths of your team members and let them loose to do what they know how to do.

Quit promoting people based only on the crowd they run with. This isn't high school.
