Could not be better even if it were a dream come true

I have been working at Habitat for Humanity

Pros

Life giving work that is substantial to so many others. Helping your community and yourself in ways you cannot put justly into words. Seeing people, blocks and relationships transformed.

Cons

Labor intensive--know the plan before you commit. Can be strenuous emotionally if ill prepared. Do research before getting involved.

    Pros

    - Everyone in the Austin office is funny, supportive, and dedicated, not to mention a great person
    - Building houses for families in need is so rewarding
    - All of the regular volunteers and family partners are fantastic to work with

    Cons

    - Long work hours when the schedule is full (I was forewarned about this)
    - If you take advantage of the provided housing as an AmeriCorps member, you're stuck living with the same people you work with
    - The heat!!!

    Advice to Management

    You're doing great!
