I worked at Hackensack University Medical Center

Pros

Excellent pay, great benefits, 12 hour shifts for nursing staff which allows for time off.
Some of the staff is amazing and very knowledgeable. Most of the staff will always go out of their way to help you if needed.

Cons

Work on top of work, always the mentality to do more than humanly possible. Over-time is strongly frowned about and one will hear about it for sure.
Parking for employees is mostly off site and you have to be bused in. One must allow extra time to get into work on time.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember your staff is only human. Not super-humans.

Ridiculous Clinical Cancer Research Management Team

I worked at Hackensack University Medical Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Health benefits and Beautiful new Cancer Center

    Cons

The management team at the Clinical Cancer Research center is ridiculous. Very disorganized management team with no fear vision of a management plan. Always implement new ideas that never fall through.

Very biased management team that have favorites and provide little to no training to new research employees. You are basically set up for failure before you start. Training is so bad and they are quick to blame you for anything that goes wrong AND expect you to learn things on your own for the most part and give you things to do even when they know you have not been trained to do so.

The pay is very low for all the work and numerous studies they want you to work on and some of the PI's have empty ego's larger than than the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the Clinical research Nirses have favorite coordinators who are still there and haven't moved up the ladder. No growth for career advancement!

WARNING to future Research ApplicNts: if you want to SLAVE away as a Clinical Research DATA Coordinator with low pay, then go ahead and apply at this institution. You will work your life off! Don't say you have not been warned!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should learn to train new employee's propeprly especially if they have potential as seen from their educational backgrounds or previous work history. If not the. They WILL leave for bigger And better jobs and it will be your loss.
Learn to pay your employees what they Are worth not based on the Job title Alone. It's ridiculous to see that Degree Nd non-Degree holders make the same amount of money.
Encourage your staff more and act like Managers by setting examples instead of stirring up problems!!
Respect yourselves and then maybe more people would respect you. You have to EAR! Respect and not demand it!
