I have been working at Halliburton full-time for more than a year

Pros

-My advise: come in, get a booster for career then leave for a job that would pay 150% more. Or, if you are senior to your career, this is a great place to come and retire.
-Great career booster and resume material.
-Great retirement plans.
-No employee ever gets fired, even if he/she is horrendous at what he/she does.

Cons

-Extremely high turnover. As soon as you build a relationship, that person quits for a better job.
-Unhappy place to work at. Everyone seems so depressed/ unmotivated.
-Low pay, almost zero chance of advancement.
-No worklife balance. Though never spoken, working evenings and weekends are almost expected and is a common practice.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to decrease that attrition rate. Need to have more attractive offering for the younger generation employees, as all your baby-boomers are retiring soon.

I worked at Halliburton full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benefits which include 401k, Stock Plan, Health and Life Insurance at a low rate
Great people to work with and cultural diversity
There are managers who actually do care about their employees and the company
Available tuition assistance; if approved by manager

    Cons

Manager discretion on who gets tuition reimbursement for college
Typical politics in a corporation with some that enjoy their "power"
Some work that moved overseas for cheaper costs
Hard to move into other positions (recent career change)
Not enough employees to carry the load so current employees are overloaded

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out a way to add resources to the departments who need it and bring some of the jobs back to the US.

I worked at Halliburton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Corporate appears to be a real, live, grown up company. Salary is not terrible and until lately, overtime was plentiful!

    Cons

Field locations run by many unprofessional, incompetent individuals who merely made their way up the ladder by friends and favors. Promotions largely given based upon the buddy system and harrassment and discrimination are prevalent although most employees fear for loss of employment and as such, keep it under wraps. HR does not offer the support it should to employees. DO NOT work for Halliburton field camps!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Somebody should really look in on the kids....they are making a mess of your house!!!!
