I have been working at Halliburton

    Pros

The pay is better than McDonalds.
They pay for your CDL license.
Good work experience when looking for somewhere better.
    Decent health plans.

    Cons

Upper management could care less about their workers, we are replaceable.
It is 10.00 bucks an hour.
Extremely difficult to get a pay raise.
Even though you put in long hours, with little to no time at home, your paycheck is less that what it "should be" for the work.
They have special "exemptions" from the normal laws employers have to follow.
No holidays off, unless it is your normal scheduled day off. Even then you have a high risk of being forced to work, since those with seniority decide to conveniently "get sick" leaving you to do their work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With a couple billion in profit every year, you could afford to pay better. There are SUPERVISORS who make less than 15 dollars an hour. You wonder why you have such a high turnover rate? Poor pay, and long work hours. Seems like a straight forward subject to me.

    I worked at Halliburton

    Pros

Salaries and benefits are in line with other companies, free parking, offices and facilities are nice, day care center onsite, two gyms, and several restaurants, banking, etc.

    Cons

Many managers and supervisors are unqualified and are in their positions because of "who" they know, not "what" they know. HR department personnel were not trustworthy and do not really care about people. There were an absurd amount of "empty" offices on our floor...people were being "let go" daily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Avoid secret back-door deals. Assess the skill levels of their managers - there was one who was hired by his friend (Senior Manager) who had never worked in the oil and gas industry - was a product of the military and not only was a poor manager, but looked for ways to avoid doing any real work of any kind.
