I have been working at Hallmark Rehabilitation as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. Approachable senior management. Geared towards technology. Free Online CEU's. Opportunity for career advancement. Flexible schedule and location. Up to date with Medicare changes with associated training.

    Cons

High productivity set by DORs because this company rewards big income facilities who then has to resort to fraudulent practices. High therapist and DOR turn-over rate in our area. Anybody can be a DOR as long as they can schedule RUG minutes and make facility earn $$$.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be ethical. Walk your talk. Don't just look at the numbers. This is the reason why Hallmark is losing quality therapists. Listen to your therapists! Do not tolerate fraudulent practices. A therapist CANNOT be 100% productive any way you see it. That would mean as soon as the therapist clocks in they are already seeing a patient until all they way when they clock out non-stop. That would also mean the therapists are not taking their 2x 15 min break working 8 hrs as mandated by law. Also, the DOR bonus system is flawed. It shouldn't be based on $$$ alone because it is = keeping the patients longer than what is needed, high RU RUG utilization regardless of need, and extremely high productivity for staff therapists so that the DOR can have some admin time.
