I have been working at Hanover Insurance
Pros – - Excellent Work Atmosphere
- Opportunities for Professional Growth
- Strong Mentor Program
- Employees Care About What They Do
Cons – From my experience, hiring decisions are often in favor of external candidates. The results from hard work of internal candidates are praised, but promotions are not received as often as they should be. As a result, employees often develop acute analytical and professional skills, but they are forced to look at opportunities outside the company in order to advance their careers.
Advice to Senior Management – In short, the company needs to work harder to present career growth opportunities for its employees, especially in the experience range of 3-8 years in the industry. Strong analytical talent is often approached by competitors and head hunters and, with no opportunities at the current company, these employees are essentially given no choice but to leave and take the better offers. Most employees don't want to leave, but they have to in order to continue to grow and develop.
