Pros

Usually very pleasant co-workers, pay raises are very common including start out pay is exceptional. Retail positions are very simple to do as far as folding and stacking t-shirts and running a register. You don't exactly need to become a manager to keep getting raises, benefits, and vacation time. You stick at the same routine for a few years, and make $10 to $13/hr. Also, if you have piercings, tattoos, a mohawk, etc. it's more than accepted.

Cons

Dead times are the killer. You will get cut quite frequently and not finish shifts. If you are scheduled for a 8 -10 hour shift, but business is slightly lacking you will get sent home at anytime. 2 hours into a shift, and showing up on time, and not even clocking in and being sent home, because of lack of business. It can easily cut your previous paycheck in half. Also, if you are not a people person than this job will not be for you. Tourists treat HRC's more than a restaurant. So getting pictures taken with the servers or retail associates is really common.

Advice to Senior Management

Favoritism. One of my number one hated things about it. Really attractive females who get hired, get treated better, than veterans alot of the time. If your personality doesn't match managements ideal, and still do a great job, you sometimes will feel being pushed aside from managers, and not get assistance when needed.
