I have been working at Harley-Davidson full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Salary, bonuses, benefits, automatic 3 weeks of vacation, wellness program, long-term incentive program, awesome workspaces, fitness center, employee engagement focused, you can wear jeans every day!!!

Cons

In some areas, can be a bit 'rigid' in their thinking, simply a cultural thing, I think. But I'm ok with it...

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work with employee engagement; it'll be the catalyst to drive the new culture shift!!!

I worked at Harley-Davidson as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The pay rate- one of the highest in hometown Milwaukee

    Cons

They might never treat you like an individual, with individual talents. They might never even try to get to know you personally. They will likely give you no personal touch whatsoever- no communication, no caring or understanding nature. They want workers who do the work, shut their mouths, and they do not want to speak to you unless you are acting up for them. They want machines, not people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider giving managers a chance to treat the employee on staff as assets, not liabilities. Capital expenditures on human resources is a qualitative analysis, and should not always be calculated on how fewer and fewer employees can provide more and more work for you. Consider some new employees from outside the company as having talent when they walk in the door. It doesn't all have to be Harley experience to count for something there.

    I worked at Harley-Davidson full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Harley Davidson was a great company to work at. Their mission statement was something you identified with and wanted to contribute to. They also valued employees as their greatest assets. Benefits are also better than industry standards.

    Cons

The fun is not there anymore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management has lost sight of what's important. Bottom line should not blur the long term vision and don't lose focus of the things that have made this company great and great to work for.
