Harley-Davidson is not the "old" Harley-Davidson.

    I worked at Harley-Davidson as a contractor

    Pros

Met some wonderful people and they produce a beautiful product.

    Cons

Old timers don't let anyone new into their inner circles so they can teach them about the company. They are keeping their heads down and just trying to get to retirement. Contractors are treated like second-class employees and when they announce the yearly "STIP" to regular employees, they forget that those contractors helped contribute to that "STIP" by the company not having to pay them benefits, etc. Show a little more compassion towards them; "there, by the grace of God, go I"...they could be in that same position without any warning at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't expect to hire the best and then treat them like they are stupid...it's very insulting. Tell your upper management to smile at those contractors who don't have insurance or your wages or your weeks of vacation (with pay) and all those other benefits you have; yes, they are lucky to have a job but the way the world is these days, so are you! Culture, Values, Mission are good but upper management should "actually" practice them.
