Pros

Very good at making new employees feel as if they are contributing to the growth of the company while they are only assisting upper management preparing to close down factories

Cons

Harris enjoys purchasing small companies, taking their patents and shutting them down to send the work to China. What a great American company who received most of their sales from the the US Military!

Harris closed our production factory down while the "new" factory was charging more for the products we produced for 30 years before they purchased us.

  1. Harris had a Melbourne FL culture which did not extend to outside offices

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for outside projects.
Very competent staff, if you have a question, it will get answered.
Company is big on keeping with current technology, and pushes employees to drive harder.

    Cons

Very distinct layers of personnel: ie you don't talk to your bosses boss. You talk to your boss and your boss relays your message. Not so easy if you have a problem with your boss.
Too process driven. There is a process for creating a process. Seriously?
Feels like a smaller company trying to be a large corporation. Feels like they're trying to grow too fast.

    Advice to Management

Come down out of the clouds, and get some face time with your employees. Lose some of the formality and let people do their jobs without being micro managed. Also, make the remote employees feel like they're a part of the family rather than a second thought, we do a lot of the hard work in the field and don't always feel appreciated.
