I worked at Harris full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Benefits ok. Good place for new grads to get some experience before moving on to better job.

Cons

Salary low, does not want older software engineers, They are pushed aside or out the door. I am one and I know several others. Wants new-grads.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn the value of experienced workers and treat them accordingly. Harris is facing a brain drain you will regret.

    I worked at Harris full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Lots of opportunities to work different product lines.
    Lots of opportunities to learn different tools (CAD, FEA, Testing, etc.).
    Flexibility to jump on another product line when feasible.
    Department heads give you alot of flexibility to map your career path.
    Hours are usually flexible.
    Ovetime pay after 45 hours
    Opportunities to work very challenging tasks that you won't work in most places.

    Cons

    Salary could have been better based on expectations.
    Very difficult to get promoted.
    Forced rankings often place very good employees in the "low performer" category.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Do away with the bell curve and ranking system.
