I worked at Harte Hanks full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Company with huge potential, a wide variety of product choices in the direct marketing sector
A lot of good people at the operational level
Good environment to work in from some perspectives, colleagues generally helpful, friendly and with a drive to succeed

Cons

No corporate strategy, with a statement from some senior management that they didn't believe an overall corporate strategy was necessary.
Very political internally, especially in the Trillium Software group.
Makes it a very frustrating place to work as the company has such potential, but no real idea how to execute

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need a clear strategy for the long term business of the company

Doesn't Recommend
Negative Outlook
Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Harte Hanks full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Not bad if you want a job that you won't care about or just need entry level customer service experience.

    Cons

The company does not care about it's employees, customers, or partners. Employees at anything under the upper management level are treated like morlocks. They will expect you to choose the companies goals over your family, education, children, safety, or health. Pay is well below average for most positions, especially considering the responsibilities that will be heaped on you and the sub par work conditions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees from time to time, most of them are hard-working, intelligent people that have had much better jobs prior to the recent economic decline. Morale is not a four letter word.

    Pros

Steady hours and pay, there are some good people that work there. Professional environment, good trainers. Location in Austin is pretty nice. If you are looking for a decent job to start out with getting experience it is a good place for it.

    Cons

Not a lot of room to advance, pay is on the low end of customer service jobs. When I worked there they did not give raises. Wouldn't recommend as a career choice as the options to move up are few and far between.
