I have been working at Harte Hanks

    Pros

The best thing about this company by far is the people. Each unit is like a an extended family. The benefits are good. The company is big enough and has so many different units that there is room to grow and move around.

    Cons

The work load can be heavy at times. There are times when the work week is longer than 40 hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is room for upper management to be more appreciative of their people and to be more open about how the company is doing.

    Great Co Workers, Horrible Management

I have been working at Harte Hanks

    Pros

Most of my co workers were very nice people. Very good benefits package, reasonably priced.

    Cons

Poverty level pay. One account had extensive training, which turned out to be nearly useless once in the "real world" of handling customer calls. It seemed the training was being updated weekly, and this was from a long term seasonal account! Last account worked had less than a hour of training, not that the job was that complicated but because the then manager was being switched to another account. Managers were changed the way most people change socks and it seemed as though many of them really didn't know the accounts they worked on. One of the managers would write up employees for seemingly petty offenses, like talking to fellow employees for a minute. or Hispanic employees conversing in Spanish. Competent workers and management were regularly discarded. The computer infrastructure was very old and many times the programs crashed, became very slow or froze, usually during a busy period. Nearly everyone I spoke with that had worked there for a number of years stated that the company was much more fun to work for, say, 5 years ago.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update the computer infrastructure; do a better job placing upper management and have the training up to date.
