Pros

Not that much stress on the job. Great hours and some flexibility. Great insurance benefits, time off, and holidays. Everyone is really nice.

Cons

Too hierarchical and things move at glacial pace. Fellow employees tend to stick around for too long causing lack of innovation and updated skills. Management seems to be out there for themselves and no enough for their subordinates.

Advice to Management

Strive for less hierarchy and more flat organization. Union and management standoff needs to end as soon as possible. With all the activities going on within the University in terms of growth, the University should be more willing and is able to provide more to its unionized staff.

    Pros

Rich school. Many seminars/workshops with great scholars. Lots of lunch seminars - you may not pay often for lunch!

    Cons

Great scholars nearby - you might be overwhelmed easily. Some bureaucracy - took a month to get a ID card! Benefits are different per faculty/staff/postdoc/temporary. Parking is horrible.

    Advice to Management

N/A - not familiar with upper management

    Pros

Harvard is a fascinating place to work. There are many different positions and occupations within the University, so no doubt this varies considerably.

    Cons

The campus union is currently in ongoing contract negotiations, and Harvard is refusing to agree to a fair deal. In the past labor relations practices have been good; I hope this is not a sign of things to come.
