I have been working at Harvard University part-time (less than a year)

Pros

Amazing benefits
Smart people who care about what they're doing
Cambridge is fantastic
Strong union support for many employees ensures better benefits for all (non-union too)
Discounts for events around Harvard, Boston, and even nationally

Cons

Not that much as far as downsides
Could maybe streamline the application and HR appointment process

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up exactly what you're doing, because you're Harvard and there's a reason you have an endowment of 30-odd billion dollars.

    I worked at Harvard University

    Pros

The pros include great benefits and a well equipped working environment. Working with smart people is definitely a plus. As I said, you simply can't beat Harvard!

    Cons

The cons include that Harvard is large university and it's easy to get lost in the cracks. There is not a much personal attention to professional development as there could be. There could be more follow-up.

Excellent, room for growth, fabulous benefits - have to put up with some serious arrogance

I have been working at Harvard University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Being around smart people doing important work. Incredible benefits and support for life-work balance. Chances to develop professionally. Overall, an excellent place to work.

    Cons

Higher degrees (master's, phD) are absolutely required for a huge number of positions, even if you're doing the work already. Admins can be treated poorly. Processes in HR can be very slow.
