Pros

The quality of the people you meet is second to none, and the resources that are available to pursue a PhD in the sciences is also second to none.

Cons

As with any PhD, the salary is too low. Too many cookies, not enough beer.

I have been working at Harvard University

    Pros

The faculty and staff are extremely collaborative and very supportive of graduate students and postdoctoral students. Teaching is high priority.

    Cons

It is an extremely large institution with many subunits. That makes it difficult to understand and navigate the structure sometimes.

  2. Excellent pay and benefits.
