Cons

Recruiters never return phone calls and use reception staff and automated software to short-list applicants. On the odd chance that you actually speak to a recruiter, they often have no specialist knowledge of the sector they recruit for. Reception staff act as gatekeepers and are rude and insulting at best. Recruiters should not list their contact details if they have no intention of responding.

Advice to Management

Clean up your act and train frontline staff in basic customer service skills. You provide a service to job seekers as well as your clients; we pay the bills!

    Good pay/ commission Good office banter

    Cons

    Terrible management- awful management style, unmotivating, unrealistic expectations. Hierachy between senior managers and other staff- "us and them" culture All KPI driven- care more about whether you're hitting your target than whether you're actually providing clients with a decent service. Tar each consultant (whether billing a lot or not) with the same brush Hire and fire culture Long hours Unappreciative of hard work Unflexible- time off sick is almost not allowed Too many office politics Staff are not valued at all, as soon as you're not hitting your targets your got rid of. I wasn't persoanlly but saw it happen to other people

    Advice to Management

    Motivate and value your staff more. Stop making employees work extensive hours Spend a week in consultants shoes and see how tough the job is before you implement targets.
