Pros

Job security and benefits are some of the best reasons to work at HCSC. The company shows great interest in retaining its current employees

Cons

Poor communication between upper management and employees. As for IT they are way behind the eight ball in keep up with standards and the latest technologies. Most companies stay 1-2 versions behind software and hardware releases, but HCSC waits until its either not supported any longer or just does not meet business needs any longer. They need to be much more proactive.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Praising employees twice a year (bonus and when blue pulse survey) is not enough, many employees feel unappreciated. Most companies stay 1-2 versions behind software and hardware releases, but HCSC waits until its either not supported any longer or just does not meet business needs any longer. They need to be much more proactive.

An easy place to work if you have the right job, or a difficult place if you are not in the right position.

    Pros

Competitive benefits packages, and many opportunities to apply for jobs in other parts of the company. There are opportunities for growth and development.

    Cons

Work Life Balance only applies to certain jobs/roles. Since IT cannot make any changes during normal business hours, many times you will have to work nights and weekends in addition to your normal day job (where you attend back to back meetings all day.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We have too many layers of senior management. Looking at the org chart there are Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers that have only one or two people reporting to them. Additionally the ITG Service Delivery Methodology (SDM) process has impacted our ability to quickly react to business needs. SDM documentation takes up an average of 35% of the time on a project.

    Pros

-Work/Life balance is excellent although that heavily depends on your department and/or manager
-My department (not that large considering the size of the company) is very close and has events for the staff, both sponsored for departmental meetings and non-sponsored for more "social gatherings". Its tough to find a place to work where you enjoy most of the people you work with on a daily basis.
-Compensation & Benefits package is very good compared to other companies in the industry.
-Overall commitment to employee wellness is excellent.

    Cons

-Projects are difficult to get done having to cut through all the red tape.
-Even though its non-investor owned, the environment feels like a publicly traded company, very political.-

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Keep up the promotion for Wellness Everywhere
