Pros

Great opportunity for showing results, good parent company, good system were original fast lube place to go good locations in major markets

Cons

questionable business practices, did not really train employees, very low wages and high turnover customers want stability in personnel when dealing with their auto

Advice to ManagementAdvice

clean up things, your stores your upper management, LA Minneapolis you knew what was going on and you turned your back ,people know!!

    I worked at Heartland Automotive full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Decent Benefits if you are in Senior Management
    Good place to learn if you like the automotive field
    Bonus Plan is ok if they would budget correctly
    JLU University is good computer based training

    Cons

    over worked and under paid
    just a number - say they care about their people but it is all about the numbers
    Most DVP level and above have no idea of the business and how to drive the business
    Long days and weekends with little thanks or appreciation- Company just expects it.
    DVP's are not knowledgable about the business do not provide support or feedback-
    Labor expectations are out of line with the business world
    Sales expectations and pressure to have a high TA is overall focus- no matter how good of a manager you are if you don't hit the sales you are scum.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Put people in position that actual know what they are doing.
    If you say you really care about employes and how valuable they are then show it by giving raises when promised.
    Too much emphasis on the sales and not enough on the Guest and increasing Guest count.
    Attitude of being able to charge what we want because we are the best-
    SLT is extremely 2 faced and says what they think you want to hear/ everyone is afraid to make comments because they are afraid of losing their job.
    Actually return phone calls.
    Practice what you preach!

    Pros

    Ability to work indpendently, fast pace environment, work with people, flexibility, work with the outside elements, challenging, rewarding at times.

    Cons

    Disfunctional, no positive feed back, too many changes in a short amount of time, inability to work a plan, reactive never proactive, lack of accountability and follow through.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest in the people part of the business, trim the fat with positions that are not functional or beneficial, quit doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Too many changes with non qualified people and employee trust.
