Pros

Someone with a developed network will be successful in sales. Always meeting different people from different industries and backgrounds.

Cons

One thing you could always depend on was change. Change in how your paid and how much. Change made. It difficult to depend on making a living. Upper management decisions dictated by stockholders regardless of effects on employees. Good at changing the rules at a moments notice or no notice. Portfolios of sales people were sold without consent and regard to the sales persons personal goals and financial planning. Management motivated out of fear instead of balancing motivational techniques.

Advice to Management

Learn to motivate your sales team in a manner besides fear and use a little tack and respect.

    Pros

I would say set my own schedule, but I really would by lying because everyday there is a requirement to tell your manager (so they can tell their manager) what your goals are and who you are going to see that day/ who you plan to sell that day. It's no secret that the sales people just pay lip service to this requirement to get their managers off of their back.

    Cons

You're fired from a STRAIGHT COMMISSION job if you don't meet requirements! Who fires free labor? It's all a Wall Street numbers game. "Head count" is a term that you should get used to, you want to work here. You are expendable-at your own expense. On YOUR dime, not theirs.

    Advice to Management

Um....pay your employees? That would be good. Also, stick with one policy for more than six months. It's too difficult to figure out your paycheck when corporate policies change to reflect less in your commission structure as a salesperson and more for the companies bottom line. Rip up the salespersons bill of rights. And, please stop calling your front line "Relationship Managers". It seems that this company has more greedy managers and levels of management that any other I have ever seen.

    Pros

None-Bob Carr's success and leadership will be challenged and compromised with his hiring of a division president who comes from a hire and fire company and naive in boasting he can grow the ecomm business without an international platform.

    Cons

This division president has a dictatorship style of management along with ruthless treatment of a direct report that was fired at the airport without any fair notice. He has begun to hire his "cronies" from his former job that will take Heartland to its demise. No sales infrastructure to board enterprise accounts due to its ISO RM centric policies.

    Advice to Management

It is hard to believe Bob Carr is not aware of this division president's style of management and hoping he will realize the situation there.
