I worked at Heartland Payment Systems

Pros

You control your time and managers are not on your back. They have a very good piece of software called the knowledge network which will answer almost any questions you have. They have a great reputation for dealing very fairly with their customers.Their products work and work well, technical help is very good.Residual income is a real plus.

Cons

You may starve trying to get your business going. In this current environment businesses are reluctant to make changes even ones to benefit them,so sales can be slow.Because of the turnover in sales talent your direct manager may be someone with very little time with the company and you may suffer as a result. Health insurance is not available until you make certain sales goals which are sometimes harder to achieve than you may think. They had a major computer breach which compeitors continue to try and use against them. When reps leave early they give up their residuals which the company gets to keep.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont allow people to turn over so easily. The sink or swim attitude doesn't serve you well, even though it may help profits.Have a plan in place to support each new sales rep and get them to some sort of financial security BEFORE they "vest " which can take a while and most families can't wait that long.

I have been working at Heartland Payment Systems

    Pros

There is an abundance of opportunity to learn and grow in the field of marketing as employees are given a large amount of responsibilty. It is also an entreprenureal environment, so new ideas are well received. Lastly the quick steam of new product launches is great for those that thrive on change and fast paced environments.

    Cons

Lack of direction and organization from the top.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company would benefit from more structure and organization to bring everyone to a common goal. Also, there are some employees at the top that are not qualified to lead the team of professionals needed to take the company to the next level. A good look at the skills and attributes of these high level folks is critical for the company's future success.

I have been working at Heartland Payment Systems

    Pros

The company pays very well relative to the competitors. Would recommend this company to someone who likes working as a CSR for 3 years and not being offered a management position. Company trips are offered every year to the MVP of each team. I've personally been to Cancun all expenses paid.

    Cons

I've worked very hard and earned my Bachelors Degree in Marketing but have yet to be offered a promotion. I've been at the same position since starting with the company 3 years ago. Very difficult to "move up" with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees that work hard day in and day out should be rewarded by company trips but also by being promoted to supervisory/management roles.
