Pros

Its a great company to work for if you work at HQ in Eden Prairie MN. They seemed to have a great culture there.

Cons

Help/Systems has purchased more than a half dozen smaller software companies over the last several years. Sadly, Help/Systems has decided to let almost every employee go from all of the companies that they decide to purchase.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest with the employees at the companies you are buying up. If you are going to lay off all of the employees, that is fine, but dont host a company meeting in which you say "nothing is going to change" and then a month later come back and let a large portion of the work force go.

    I worked at Help/Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Small-ish company, lots of nice people (claim to have a "no jerks" policy). Still has remnants of a "small company" culture. Many of the managers understand that the company's major asset are the people who make their customers happy.

    Cons

    Hellbent on growth, don't trust employees to work from home (although certain privileged people do), and a bizarre Internet filter (so people just use their smartphones instead - and spend more time doing so).

    I have been working at Help/Systems

    Pros

    Private office. Products to be proud of. Good customer base. Decent pay. That's all I have as to Pros for working here which is sad because this company used to be fantastic!

    Cons

    Help Systems is the Pacman of software companies. The upper management is buying other companies like they are power-pack pills. They promise employees of these companies that their jobs are safe then fire1/2 of them.

    The CEO, Janet has a small group of people that she loves and lets them treat everyone else like morons. She says our opinions matter but they sure do not!

    Most managers are despised by their employees but nothing can be done.

    HS used to be a very friendly, employee-centric company that I bragged about working for. Now it's all about money and bonuses for managers, employees be damned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop micromanaging and start listening. Your employees are very unhappy and are afraid to say anything due to the "get along or get out" policy.
