Pros

Fun job dealing with parents and students.

Cons

Not enough training. Learn as you go type of job. Proper training would make everything move more efficiently. No benefits, no structure no one to take the lead.

    Pros

If you want freedom from the daily grind it is here. This job is seasonal so if you want to work hard during the year and have the summers almost free, it is great. You can make unlimited commission but the climate is changing and HJ is not competitive with other similar offerings.

    Cons

No benefits, no perks. It is an employee-owned company and sales reps are not employees.

    Advice to Management

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

    Pros

Independent when the company wants you to be. Profitable if you are lucky enough to get a good territory.

    Cons

You likely won't get a good territory. Territories have been shrinking for years. A rep retires and they split the business by three so new reps don't make much money. Management is always on your back. Reports are due, sales managers are riding with you, pushing you to sink or swim. Company is a follower in the industry, not a leader. Technology is lagging behind the competition. Prices are much higher than the competitiors. Company makes money off the reps by charging them for everything. The rep is the customer and is nickle & dimed. You'll make more money in another business with a salary and benefits.

    Advice to Management

Understand what independent contractor really means. Be a leader not a follower in the industry. Reduce prices to allow the rep to make money. Don't be so concerned with company profits that you drive away good reps. A good sales rep expects to have a high income. Offer a more competitive draw. Seriously, there are so many better sales careers with a better overall income.
