Pros

It is located in a good area--small town-residential area. It is a union hospital. The salary for RN's is higher then other surrounding hospitals. Also the parking is free and within walking distance of hospital

Cons

Staffing at times Highly priced and poor food selection cafeteria

    Pros

location is close to home. salary and benefits are comparable to other area hospitals. schedule is flexible, self-scheduling is very valuable in my opinion. ability to work longer shifts to create a shorter work-week is also valuable.

    Cons

provincial attitudes and lack of gender balance can make the work day difficult at times. i find the best workdays are when there is a relatively balanced mix of male and female nurses. there seems to be a large amount of complaining over trivial matters at times. backbiting among the employees exists to a large degree. management seems very unwilling to give salary increases, yet invests heavily in structure and equipment.

    Advice to Management

less layers of management may be a more efficient way to run the business. there seems to be a lot of extraneous, non-essential personnel that are bloating the payrolls.
