Pros – Hershey a great company to work for due to its history, founder, and of course it product…. Being an RSR is fun, relaxing (at times), challenging and free… Best parts about Hershey includes the compensation package with includes medical and health benefits the 1st day of work… 401k, Company car, Laptop, and all the samples your taste buds can handle…
I think what I miss most is the Quarterly Sales Meeting where all reps from the district could mingle and discuss Plan action for the following quarterly (everything spent here from lodging to dinner is paid on the company’s dime) SWEET!!!!
Cons – Hershey seriously controls any aspect of your life that they pay for... For instance the company gives you a company car w/ stipulations that you are only drive it a certain distance a wk... Plus if you drive to a destination over 100 miles or more for personal reasons it has to be approved more than 2wks in advance before traveling. Living arrangements also are another problem where ever your territory was stationed the REP had to make sure a Wal-Mart was at least within a 10-15 mile radius if not you would not be able to live there. More than the majority members have an ego and most of time are to busy to mingle or even truly get to know on a personal…
Seasonal time is the worst time to work due to your 8hrs days may turn into 12hr days due to pushing out more cases…. Not to mention your job as RSR is to educate the KDM on promotions, distribution, pos, etc... But you would literally find yourself packing out cases and your accounts KDM treats you like you are just “free labor”
Advice to Senior Management – I honestly think that Senior Management needs to reflect back on how things were once when they were Sales Reps... That way they probably would began to check some of the middle management,
