Current Employee - Management Trainee in Denver, CO
Current Employee - Management Trainee in Denver, CO

I have been working at Hertz

Pros

-good place to get experience, especially if it's your first job after college
-ability to drive brand new cars every day
-paid sick days, vacation, medical insurance
-mostly good people to work with (co-workers)
-a lot of training to make sure you're best sales person

Cons

- poor management (a lot of managers don't know stuff, their promotion's only based on sales numbers)
-they were firing people with previous sales programm ( but they changed it recently). You need to meet sales standards every month, and if you don't they'll give you write-up, up to 3 and you're fired. For the last 3 month they lost about 10-20 people only in one area.
-looong hours (mostly from 7 to 6pm)

Good place to start if you're fresh out college, people get burned out as time goes by.

I have been working at Hertz

    Pros

Good benefits package, good health insurance, good place to start your career as entry level.

    Cons

Unfair promotions, management says it's performance based, but in reality, based on management favorites, not necessarily based on numbers. Whatever is convenient for them. Sometimes the highest performers do not have the best opportunities. Very demotivating in that sense. Along the years salry increases, very minimal, below average compared to the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote more based on performance than on favoritism, company keeps losing loyal employees because of that.

Current Employee - Location Manager in Austin, TX
Current Employee - Location Manager in Austin, TX

I have been working at Hertz

    Pros

Customer service and free rental car.

    Cons

Literally as a Location Manager at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport you make $450 a week after taxes, working between 12 to 14 hours a day, sometimes just one day off a week, that's LESS than the minimum wage, also you have to clean 15-20 cars everyday and on top of that you never have time for lunch breaks. I wonder how does the upper management expect from the location managers perform their job right without any meal during their 12/14hrs shift. I'm TOTALLY serious about this. Bonuses never happen. They really take advantage from managers at this location, maybe other locations are different, also poor working conditions, no work and life balance. It's not worth it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management at this location has to treat their managers better, No lunch breaks, lack of staff, 12hrs /14hrs days and only getting paid 8, no vacation days or time off (always an excuse to say no).
