I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

You're allowed a lunch. You get to drive new cars. It's a job that allows you to pay some of your bills.

Cons

Constantly changing revenue, sales and customer service goals. Get this. If you don't achieve the city minimum in Customer service they take away 25% of your bonus. If you don't beat YOY sales at the counter they take away another 20% from you. $10 or so start out as a trainee.... $11 if you happen to become a manager associate $11.25 if you become a Manager Assistant $600 a week if you become a location manager.

Advice to Management

Please pay your employees properly. Stop making the bonus impossible.

    I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Company car. With Hertz being world wide you can easily get one on your vacation too as a manager.

    Cons

    Management is so out of of touch. No 'real' thank you, employee appreciation or holiday parties. I worked for Enterprise Rent A Car and they did a much better job taking care of their employees and boosting employee morale, despite the intense presure of sales.

    Advice to Management

    Get approval from corporate to finally upgrade the office locations. The interior office spaces are often located in a cubicle small space either in a dealership or hotel. The free standing locations are the worst real estate locations one can imagine. The office enviornment for any employee is key to morale and overall employee performance. Old carpets, furniture, yellow walls is disatrous for employees and customers. I worked for Hertz for 7 years and heard this every week from someone.

    Pros

    Internationally recognized. Most fleet. Most variety. Partnered with equally aggressive companies that fuel active revenue growth. As a intern, offers many learning opportunies...

    Cons

    Nepotism runs deep. Its WHO you know, not WHAT you know. Corporate Upper management is out of touch with reality. Too many MBA managers, not enough hands on manager with customer service experience making decisions.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to customers and field operation personnel.They know what they are talking about. STOP treating customers like NUMBERS and start treating them like people.
