Current Employee - Branch Manager Trainee in Stone Park, IL
Current Employee - Branch Manager Trainee in Stone Park, IL

I have been working at Hertz full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Weekly pay was the only nice thing

Cons

Unorganized
No resources
No good management

I had a horrible experience with a poor area manager and a very very bad branch manager.

Don't let them convince you to 'sell' so they can make more money off of you... Start applying for new jobs!!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Buy more cars, hire good managers, don't be upset when unattainable goals aren't met because there are no cars, train your employees, give your employees a shirt or something.

Hire management based on skill.. Not the ability to cook the books and sweet talk.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Always changing for the better, able to move around within the company, the company is world wide, leads in technology, has GREAT services, positive atmosphere, high exactions/standards. If you work hard you will be able to move anywhere within the company.

    Cons

Salary is not the best for the amount of work you do.
In order to get everything done you will definitely need to put in more than 40 hours.

Current Employee - Branch Manager in San Francisco, CA

I have been working at Hertz full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Managers get car privileges.
    The people are hard working.
Upper management will not visit your branch if you hitting your sales numbers.

    Cons

Always under staffed. After Hertz went public recently "the less staff the better" has become upper management's approach. They refer to the staff in the branches as "head count". The less heads the better! This creates big customer service issues because customers are forced to wait on long lines to get a car. No matter how many "heads" upper management gives you they aways demand a 20% increase in revenue year over year.

Upper management overbooks reservations and don't come through with the cars to rent. This is another reason customers have to wait so long for their cars. Of course poor customers service scores fall on the Branch Managers and poor scores reduce the bonus you will receive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop asking managers to go on Glassdoor and give high scoring reviews! If you wants better scores create a better work environment!
