I worked at Hertz full-time (less than a year)

Pros

You can move up quickly in the company if you can learn quick and meet sales quotas

Cons

Literally everything else! if you like having personal time, getting paid sufficiently for the amount of stress you have to deal with, and adhering to a normal work schedule that cant screw you over literally the day before you're supposed to be "off" then this company is not for you. All they care about is meeting sales goals by pushing insurance packages onto customers that don't want them and don't enjoy being solicited. Management could not care less about you and would easily cut one of your fingers off if it would add another $10 to their income statement.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

For a company thats trying to only accept college graduates you better seriously re-evaluate how you treat your employees when you only start at $11.50/hr.

    Pros

Very easy to go from Manager Trainee to Assistant Branch Manager

    Cons

Overworked, underpaid, understaffed, long hours, inefficient operation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop living in the book world to better understand the deficiencies of the operation

The company is what you make it

I have been working at Hertz

    Pros

Managers get a car to drive off the lot every day. Possible to make big bonuses. Meet a lot of different people - great networking opportunities. Opportunities are always available

    Cons

Things constantly change - how you're paid, having cars available, etc. Upper management preaches doing one thing - without being in the branches and knowing what is going on. Never have enough staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more in touch with the business. Checking numbers from your home and calling and harping on branch managers isn't the way to manage.
