Pros

Sometimes I got away with working 2 hours a day getting paid salary.

Cons

If you take over a store in rough shape plan on working all the time. Hard to hire the type of workers they want in certain areas

I have been working at Hess Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pension, 401K will end though with the sale/spin off

    Cons

Chaotic, disorganized. Promotion based on anything but merit. Not enough resources to operate the business at decent level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at what competitors are doing right. Stop coming up with programs that can only fail. New year, new idea that wastes money for no results.

I worked at Hess Corporation full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Interesting industry with strong E&P portfolio

    Cons

    - Skewed management and strategic goals as a result of influence of John Hess and his personal relationships
    - Uncertain future and disorganization as a result of (probably justified) shareholder activism

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Proper management starts at the top. Instead of being removed as President and continuing as CEO, John Hess should have been removed as CEO and continued as President. His personal interests are having major effects throughout the organization.
